Hiya Folks,

I posted the shots that I took at the DFW meet, after removing the really bad ones. There are still some fuzzy shots in the mix, mainly because I liked the action that was shown in them (line hawks).

The TT shots:

The Race shots, including the quad race and the Open Races, no relays:

South Central Regionals set for Memorial Day Weekend

This seasons South Central Regionals will be earlier than usual. It is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend in Waco. I have updated the racing calendar and you can find the .pdf file here: 2007-2008 Racing Schedule.

Recap of Team Meeting

Practice Times:
Beginning in October we will pick up Wednesday and Sunday 2 hour indoor practice times. First hour of floor (skate) time will be for elementary and under while freshmen and up will work on dry land drills; second hour of floor time will be for freshmen and up. This split schedule is designed to eliminate wasted time and frustration calling different age groups to the floor. Beginning Wednesday, October 3, practice is from 6 to 8pm; Sunday October 7, practice is from 12 to 2pm.

Outdoor Skating:
Welcome to Randy Bowman. We are hoping to expand our club to include outdoor competition and we are looking to Randy to help us get this going. He will be ordering outdoor uniforms (maybe jerseys/jackets too?) from his sponsor for those skaters interested. We need a minimum order of 12. Robin told me that they have been skating outdoors at the Veloway on Wednesdays at 6pm and Saturdays around 8am. (I’m not sure if Wednesday will change when we pick up indoor time slot.)

Event Schedule:
Joe Cotter is working on the South Central Region event schedule. We will post it on our web site as soon as we have it. Sonny said he is a firm believer in supporting the events by attending! Also, some skaters have expressed an interest in attending out of region competitions - Virginia, Seattle and Las Vegas were mentioned, but no decisions were made. Your opinion counts, let us know if you would like to attend any of these competitions.

Fundraising:

Funds are used for entry fees, travel expenses, floor maintenance and also pay for the USARS club charter and coaches fees.

Not a babysitting service:
Please do not depend on non-skating parents to watch your children while you are skating or watch them if you decide to drop them off and leave. If you have young children (14 and under), and are unable to watch them while you skate or otherwise, please make arrangements with someone to care for them. Even if you feel your child is mature enough that they do not need adult supervision, please clear this first with Sonny. It is very distracting to have children screaming, playing chase and running up and down the sidelines during practice time.
